For the past 20 years my occupation, fascination and pleasure has been to work as a community artist, producing creative collaborations with people throughout Wales and beyond. Working collectively and through the principle of participation, in consultation and negotiation with the client group at all times, I facilitate and oversee the whole process, from brainstorming ideas, generating designs, creating the actual artwork, in whatever medium it may be, siting it in its permanent location and celebrating its success with all involved. I see my role as that of a bridge between a group's (or individual's ) idea or aspiration, and their successful achievement of it, and have found that often what they need more than tuition in techniques etc is the encouragement and support - the confidence - to get in there and go for it. The dynamic of communication and discovery that develops in this process between all involved, including myself, is inspirational, fun and empowering.
